Wccftech reports that LG has announced what it describes as the world’s first 24.5-inch OLED panel with a 720Hz refresh rate for gaming. The panel is aimed at esports users, where consistent high refresh rates have long been a major hardware goal.
LG’s panel is also listed with a response time of 0.02ms. The announcement arrives as OLED manufacturers continue introducing gaming displays with increasingly high refresh rates, while the PC esports market grows in popularity.
According to the report, current-generation hardware provides enough performance for high-refresh gaming to become more practical. Technologies including Multi-Frame Generation and improved upscaling are also helping games make better use of displays with faster refresh rates.
