IPVanish has launched a dedicated IP address as an optional add-on, filling a gap in its VPN service. Until now, it offered only shared, dynamic IP addresses.
A dedicated IP is assigned to one user and stays the same across connections. That can help reduce account lockouts triggered by changing addresses and lets users add the address to allowlists for remote work networks, staging servers, or a home NAS. Shared VPN addresses, by contrast, can change between sessions and are used by multiple customers.
The add-on is available in five locations: New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. It supports WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2, and works with IPVanish apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Android TV, Fire TV, and Apple TV. Customers can buy and manage it through the IPVanish account portal; it then appears in a Dedicated IP tab in the app’s Locations menu. Users can switch between the dedicated address and shared servers at any time.
TechRadar notes that a fixed IP may make it easier for trackers to build a profile of a user’s activity, while shared IPs offer more privacy for everyday browsing. The launch follows IPVanish’s introduction of Threat Protection Pro and its ongoing move to RAM-only servers by 2027.
