iOS users report persistent Apple promotions in Settings

TechRadar reports that iOS users are complaining about persistent promotions for Apple products in the Settings app. The notices appear near the top of the iPhone display and promote paid iCloud+ storage, free trials for Apple Music and Apple TV, and the AppleCare+ extended warranty.

Users say the promotions can be difficult to remove. They may expire after weeks or months, leaving a notification badge on Settings, while some notices do not include a dismiss button. Some users also report that available dismiss buttons do not always work.

People have criticized the approach on social media and Reddit. One user compared it with Microsoft’s Start menu ads, while another wrote, “I wish Apple would just stop that crap.” TechRadar says some offers, including an Apple Music promotion, appear after users buy a new Apple product. The report links the recent increase in complaints to Apple’s launch of the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro range, while noting that this is a possible explanation rather than a confirmed cause.

Some iCloud+ subscribers have also reported seeing the promotion despite already paying for the service. The report says at least some notices could be caused by a bug, but it remains unclear whether Apple will fix the issue or keep the promotions. Further promotions have reportedly been planned for systems such as Visual Intelligence.
