iFi puts a DAC and headphone amp inside its Go Cable

iFi has unveiled the Go Cable, a USB-C audio cable with a built-in DAC and headphone amplifier for in-ear monitors (IEMs). It is available to pre-order for $79 / £79 (about AU$160) ahead of a September 21 release.

The cable connects to a USB-C port and ends in 2 0.78mm 2-pin connectors for separately purchased IEMs. iFi says it can also suit gaming on devices such as the Switch 2, and it supports microphone functionality for voice calls through a controller or handheld.

The Go Cable supports 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256, with power output of 70mW at 32 ohms. It includes on-cable microphone, playback and volume controls. iFi says THD Compensation reduces distortion, while its ESS Sabre DAC chip can enhance dynamic range and improve sound by up to 6dB.

Unlike the Go Link 2, the Go Cable combines the DAC/amp and cable, so users still need to provide their own IEMs. iFi is also offering a starter kit with AIRO Astra buds for an additional $20 / £20 (about AU$40). The company says that is about half their usual price, and the buds can later be swapped for another pair.
