Google data center executive John M. Wilson joins Anthropic

John M. Wilson, Google’s former global design and construction chief, has joined Anthropic as a technical staff member overseeing capacity delivery in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Wilson spent six years at Google, working on data center development and subsea infrastructure programs. Before Google, he led design and construction in Europe for Amazon. His earlier roles included chief of staff in the British Army and infrastructure director at NATO.

His appointment adds to Anthropic’s recruitment of Google infrastructure veterans. The company has also hired Winnie Leung to lead data center infrastructure; Brett Rogers, who oversaw construction at Google; and Liwen Mao, formerly a staff data center system architect, to lead data center design.

Other former Google employees at Anthropic include Adam Johnson, its data center electrical lead; Peter Sarossy, who works on data center security engineering; Zach Miller, responsible for data center operations management; and Scarlett Chen, a member of technical staff previously involved in advanced technology and innovation.

Anthropic has also added staff in related areas: Sana Ouji joined its energy team in April, Mike Brinker took responsibility for capacity delivery a month later, and Asad Malik joined to lead compute finance strategy.

Wilson said on LinkedIn that leading global infrastructure delivery across data centers and subsea programs taught him that scale is humbling and high-trust teams help make difficult work routine. He said the stakes and scale of his new assignment have never been higher.
