The European Commission is testing Element Pro as a backup in case Microsoft Teams becomes unavailable, according to Politico, as reported by Techtidningen.
The tool has drawn sharp criticism from several officials. One described it as “pure shit,” while another said the United States would “win the war immediately” if it decided to shut off its technology for the EU.
The Commission runs Element on its own infrastructure, giving it greater control over communications data and systems. Element CEO Matthew Hodgson said the rollout is still in a test phase and that early problems are to be expected. He also pointed to the adjustment required for users accustomed to Teams.
