DuckDuckGo’s Privacy Pro subscription combines a VPN, private access to AI chatbots and identity theft restoration. In a review for TechRadar, Stefan Ionescu describes the bundle as feature-rich but says its price is relatively high and its features work only in the DuckDuckGo browser.
The subscription costs $19.99 per month or $200 per year, which the review equates to $17 per month. A 7-day free trial is available. Prices vary by country; the review gives UK rates of £19.99 monthly or £200 annually, equivalent to $27 per month and $273 per year including VAT.
The VPN routes traffic through remote servers and includes a default kill switch that cuts the internet connection if the VPN fails. Its servers are concentrated in the US and Europe, and it supports up to five devices at once. Ionescu notes that users connecting from farther away, such as the Middle East, may experience slower connections.
For identity theft restoration, DuckDuckGo partners with Iris; customers work with Iris experts. The subscription also provides access to advanced chatbots based on ChatGPT and Claude, with privacy protection.
The review says the browser exclusivity means subscribers must use DuckDuckGo’s browser rather than Chrome, Firefox or Edge. Ionescu says he found the browser took some time to get used to. He also notes that DuckDuckGo’s website does not specify a money-back guarantee period.
