A custom tool called NVIDIA VBIOS Vix Editor lets users adjust graphics card power limits and voltage settings without directly flashing the GPU’s firmware chip, according to Wccftech.
The editor was developed by GitHub user Panchovix. Wccftech reports that it can raise the RTX 5090’s power limit from 600W to 800W. The headline also says the RTX 4090 can be pushed to 700W.
The tool takes a different approach from other utilities that can force RTX graphics cards to run at higher power: it changes power limits without rewriting the firmware chip. The source does not provide further details about the editor’s operation or the results of using the higher limits.
