Coolpad’s new Cool X Wide is a budget Android phone with a wider screen than is typical for non-folding phones. Its design recalls foldable phones such as the Huawei Pura X View, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo, but it does not fold.
The phone is available for preorder on JD.com in China for 999 Chinese yuan, or around $150, in black, red and white. Shipping is expected to begin on November 8. A version with 256GB of storage costs around $180, while upgrading to 12GB of RAM brings the price to around $209.
The Cool X Wide has a 6.38-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a refresh rate of up to 90Hz and a resolution of 1,158 x 720. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage in the base model. Other features include a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 4,600mAh battery. It ships with Android 16.
The processor limits the phone to 4G connectivity, as Android Authority points out. The Coolpad is nearly as tall as the iPhone 18 Pro, according to The Verge, but is 3.72 inches wide compared with 2.83 inches for Apple’s phone.
