Brick, the company behind a $59 gadget that blocks selected phone apps, has launched Brick Night, a new device aimed at reducing bedtime doomscrolling.
Unlike the original Brick, which requires users to tap their phone against the device, Brick Night uses Bluetooth to activate app blocking automatically when a user enters a designated room. The location zone can cover up to 25 feet x 25 feet, and the device runs on two CR2477 batteries.
Users can choose specific apps to block rather than making the whole phone inaccessible. Brick Night also supports multiple users, each of whom can configure their own settings, modes, blocked apps, time windows, and spaces.
The device costs $129, more than twice the price of the $59 Brick. It does not include NFC, so it cannot offer both location-based and tap-based blocking or replace the original Brick, according to the source.
