Bluesound is adding native Apple Music integration to its BluOS platform in a free software update available from 20 October 2026. The update brings Apple Music directly to compatible players, rather than streaming through AirPlay 2.
BluOS also powers products from NAD Electronics, PSB Speakers, DALI, Cyrus and Monitor Audio, extending the update beyond Bluesound devices. Users can select music through the BluOS Controller app and play it on one device or across multiple rooms. Multi-room users can send Apple Music to specific rooms and audio zones or play the same music throughout.
With native integration, audio streams directly to the player instead of through a phone, tablet or computer. The source says this avoids the compression associated with AirPlay or Bluetooth. It describes Apple Music as a subscription service, with no extra charge for higher-quality or ad-free streaming.
The update positions Bluesound as an alternative for listeners seeking Apple Music on multi-room audio equipment. The source contrasts this with WiiM, whose products it says do not support Apple Music natively and many of which do not support AirPlay. Apple Music integration is also available on Sonos, which the source identifies as a long-standing option for this use.
