Audiophile.fm has launched apps for iOS and Android, extending its free, ad-free internet radio player beyond the web browser. The service connects listeners to handpicked stations that stream in FLAC, from CD quality to hi-res audio, across genres including jazz, classical, rock and electronic music.
Creator Bojan Vidanovic said on r/BudgetAudiophile that he wanted an easier way to find and listen to lossless radio stations. The app offers radio discovery rather than an algorithmic stream of familiar songs, so listening can move between varied artists and genres.
The app itself has no ads, though some stations may play ads. TechRadar says the stations presumably have the permissions and licenses needed to pay the artists they play; it does not independently confirm their licensing. Macs are not officially supported, but the iPhone version is available from the Mac App Store. The author reports that it ran on macOS 27.
Equalization, Google Cast and AirPlay are on the to-do list. Vidanovic is seeking feedback on Reddit, and the reported plan is to keep the core app free and potentially charge for additional features in the future. The article notes that Audiophile.fm is not a replacement for services such as Spotify.
