Anthropic has made Claude for Government generally available to government agencies. The service first launched as a public beta in July 2026 and runs in a FedRAMP High-authorized environment.
Anthropic says the service gives government employees access to tools similar to those available to commercial Claude customers. The company has also indicated that new features will reach Claude for Government on the same schedule as commercial Claude, addressing concerns that government users could fall behind.
Administrators can set model restrictions, monitor usage, allocate spending and control external connections. The service uses fixed spending increments rather than per-seat billing: agencies commit to an amount, and usage cannot exceed it. Anthropic says administrators can set spending and model limits for user groups, track usage by user and model, and receive alerts before a balance runs low.
Separately, Claude for Microsoft 365 is entering early access. It brings Claude tools into Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and into Outlook in beta. Anthropic’s announcement combines the government service’s security controls with access to new features and productivity tools.
