AMD Helion rack targets agentic AI with up to 32,768 CPU cores

AMD has introduced Helion, an open rack-scale blueprint designed for agentic AI workloads. Wccftech reports that the CPU-only configuration can pack up to 32,768 EPYC cores based on Zen 6. AMD describes Helion as a flexible design that builds on the open-platform approach of its Helios rack.

AMD says customers will be able to choose between CPU-only racks and an all-in-one configuration combining EPYC CPU nodes, Instinct MI350P GPU nodes and general-purpose compute. The CPU-only option is aimed at hyperscale deployments, with capacity for agent execution and connections to separate model-inference infrastructure. The all-in-one design is intended for enterprise agentic AI.

AMD says the blueprint is based on an Open Compute Project specification design and supports open software. The company also describes liquid- and air-cooled versions. AMD plans to contribute the specification to OCP, and says Helion rack configurations are under development with ecosystem partners, with availability planned for November 2026.
