A new app called Aikon lets some older Nokia phones access ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok. It was developed for the Nokia 6300 and has been tested on Nokia Series 40 and Series 60 phones. It may also work on other phones that run Java apps.
Its creator, X user @EmirKarsiyakali, said the app began as Claude S40 and was later expanded to support the other models. Aikon is “Nokia” spelled backwards. The creator said users can download it through a phone’s browser, while the server runs on their side. The code remains open source for people who want to host their own server.
The app supports multiple languages, saves messages for 30 days, and includes voice messages, image analysis and web search. It can run full-screen to give replies more room on small displays. Community contributions added support for Symbian S60, including phones such as the Nokia E63.
Using Aikon is not entirely free: users start with a free trial and then need to buy credits. The creator said server and API costs are covered by a paid model. The Nokia 6300 launched in early 2007 with a 2G connection and no touchscreen or Wi-Fi. In places where 2G has been shut down, supported phones may lack a data connection. The app’s small, low-resolution display and keypad also remain limitations.
