Advantest Corporation says personal information was stolen in a ransomware attack earlier this year. The Japanese company makes automated test equipment for the semiconductor industry.
In a breach notification dated October 6, 2026, Advantest said an unauthorized third party accessed its systems and extracted data from its servers in February 2026. The company said the extracted data included personally identifiable information belonging to the notification’s recipient. It has not specified whether the affected people were customers, employees, partners, or members of more than one group.
Advantest said it has no information that the data was leaked or misused. It is offering letter recipients access to 18 months of identity theft, credit, and web monitoring services from Kroll. Recipients have until January 4, 2027, to activate the offer. BleepingComputer said it had asked Advantest how many people were affected but had not received a response as of publication. The outlet also said it could not find public claims from ransomware groups targeting the company.
