Meta says its Muse Voice feature, which lets people call and video chat with its consumer AI agent, Muse, is now available to everyone in the U.S. The company announced the rollout on Thursday.
First introduced at Meta’s Connect developer conference in September, the feature uses Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice technology. The models power an animated avatar, nicknamed Jolly, that responds to questions and requests. Users can customize it to look like a person, an animal or another character. Meta says the avatar uses subtle expressions and gestures that match the conversation’s tone.
Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang shared a demonstration on X. In it, his Muse appears as a fluffy white dog and suggests adding disclaimers to memes that could be misread as Meta endorsements.
The video calls arrive ahead of Meta’s planned launch, before year-end, of a Tamagotchi-like wearable for Muse. Its small screen will show the digital avatar, which users can talk to and ask to carry out tasks. Meta says real-time conversations work on mobile, web and Mac, with support for its AI Glasses and the upcoming Muse Charm hardware device planned for later.
