Iver launches European collaboration platform

Swedish IT company Iver has launched European Collaboration Suite, a managed collaboration platform positioned as a European alternative to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. It brings together file management, document editing, digital meetings, chat, calendar and email.

The service is built on Nextcloud and runs on infrastructure provided by European cloud company Cleura. Iver handles operations, monitoring, configuration and ongoing updates. Iver’s technology chief, Mattias Persson, told Techtidningen that interest comes from both public and private organizations seeking greater control over their data, how their collaboration platform is delivered and their technical dependencies.

Persson said the goal is not to copy the broader ecosystems of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace feature by feature. Instead, the modular platform focuses on core collaboration functions, allowing customers to choose components and combine them with other services. Iver did not disclose how many customers use the service or name them. It said it has tested the platform internally in selected parts of its business during the past six months.

Organizations can introduce the service in stages, for example by starting with document management while keeping existing identity management and email solutions. The service is priced per user per month; costs depend on selected features, storage needs and user count. Iver gave no specific prices or comparisons. Persson said European hosting and open-source software do not eliminate dependencies, but can give customers more control over them. The platform’s ability to meet larger organizations’ integration and functionality needs remains to be seen.
