Fujifilm’s Instax Mini Evo 2 is a hybrid instant camera with a touchscreen and a limited video-recording feature. It can capture only the few seconds leading up to a photo.
The camera has a 1/2.77-inch sensor, larger than the 1/5-inch sensor in the first Mini Evo, and a 4.5-inch rear touchscreen. It is the first Instax model with an LCD touchscreen, which replaces the rear controls. Two dials and a film-inspired print lever remain.
Users can access 10 film effects and 10 lens effects with either the dials or the touchscreen. The selection has changed slightly from the first Mini Evo. An Expanded View mode offers a wider field of view than the shooting area, according to Fujifilm.
Video is limited to MP4 clips saved to a microSD card; photos can also be stored internally. The camera records no audio, and video quality is limited to 560 × 992 pixels at 24FPS, according to DPReview. It charges via USB-C, prints 2 x 3-inch Instax Mini photos, and offers exposure, white balance, and flash adjustments.
The Instax Mini Evo 2 will cost $290 and go on sale at the end of November. Black is the only listed color. The Verge article is by Jess Weatherbed.
