71,207 drones break weekly launch record in Texas, with 10,183-drone dragon

Sky Elements and Shenzhen-based Damoda teamed up in rural Texas to set two Guinness World Records, launching 71,207 drones in one week. That total topped the previous weekly record of 55,939, set earlier in 2026 by Aerial Illuminations and UVify.

On September 28, 2026, the teams formed a giant blue dragon using 10,183 drones, setting a record for the largest mythical creature depicted by multirotors. The display was the centrepiece of a program that also featured ocean scenes, two astronauts and a lion.

Damoda supplied the hardware and sent specialists from Shenzhen to work with Sky Elements’ American operators over three nights. Its launch system uses trays that store and charge drones and receive them after landing. The source says this differs from setups where crews position each drone by hand and can simplify transport and storage.

The shows took place at a remote farm, with the fleet operating from one site. Performances used about 10,200 drones and ran several times a day. A thunderstorm hit after the opening show on September 27, but performances continued through the closing night on September 30.

Guinness adjudicator Michael Empric called it one of the most challenging attempts he had overseen, citing the weather and scale. The dragon record surpassed a 2,247-drone mark set in 2025 by an Emirati tourism authority and the emirate itself. The account does not provide independent data on how reliably the tray system handles storms or repeated daily launches.
