TechRadar reviewer Lewis Maddison says the CRKD Nitro Deck 2 combines a handheld controller for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 with console protection and a kickstand. The accessory clamps to the sides of either console rather than attaching through the Joy-Con slots.
It can connect wirelessly over Bluetooth or by wire using the included USB adapter. CRKD’s mobile app lets users remap inputs and enable “No Deadzone” mode for the joysticks. Maddison found the joysticks precise and responsive, with adjustable tension, but said the rear buttons were easy to trigger by accident.
The reviewer also reported ergonomic drawbacks: the grips angle inward at the bottom, and the unit feels heavy with a console attached. Reconnecting after the console wakes from sleep takes time, while wired reconnection is quicker but not immediate. The controller can pair with PC and Android devices, though switching between them requires pairing again.
Maddison’s testing found battery life matched CRKD’s stated 15–20 hours. The Nitro Deck 2 is priced at $89.99, £89.99, or AU$161 and comes in four colorways: Smoke Black, Pal Grey, LRG Fusion, and White. The box includes a USB cable, a double-ended USB adapter, and a legacy adapter for Switch 1 compatibility. Replaceable joystick caps and a D-pad hat are included, but no spare sets are provided.
