Microsoft is seeking a buyer or partner for Arkane Lyon after telling employees on July 16 that it intended to close the studio, according to Le Monde, as reported by Wccftech. The French developer is known for Dishonored, Deathloop and the in-development Marvel’s Blade.
The studio has 217 jobs at risk. Consultations with its Social and Economic Committee are scheduled to conclude on November 13. France’s mandatory consultation process gives the studio a chance to find a buyer or partner before the process ends, the report says.
An internal document cited in the report says a full and definitive cessation of operations would begin at the end of 2026 and continue into early 2027. The report’s headline also describes Marvel’s Blade as reportedly almost done; the summary does not provide further details on the game’s development status.
