TechRadar’s James Grimshaw finds that Beyerdynamic’s Aventho Y wireless headphones work best in noisy places, where their active noise cancellation (ANC) and long battery life stand out. In quieter settings, however, the sound lacks bass and convincing dynamics.
The review describes the over-ear headphones as designed for outdoor listening. Their ANC is effective for the price, and Transparency mode also works well outside. The battery is rated for up to 90 hours of listening, or 60 hours with ANC enabled. A five-minute quick charge provides six hours of listening, and the battery can be replaced when it eventually wears down.
The Aventho Y have 45mm dynamic drivers and Bluetooth 6.0, with Multipoint connectivity and support for SBC and AAC codecs. Grimshaw notes that they do not support aptX or LDAC. The Beyerdynamic app offers ANC controls and user-preset EQ modes, and the headphones also include a microphone for wireless calls.
At $149.99, £129, or AU$280, the Aventho Y sit in the affordable wireless headphone market. Grimshaw says their sound profile disappoints when listening in a quiet room, though the app’s EQ can add some low end. The review praises their design and price, but concludes that weak sound keeps them from being compelling outside loud environments.
