Samsung has ordered equipment intended to add capacity for 6,000 more 2nm wafers per month at its Taylor, Texas, fabrication plant, according to Wccftech.
The report says the expansion could put monthly capacity of 20,000 wafers within reach by the second half of 2027. It does not provide further details about the equipment or the timing of its installation.
Samsung’s Taylor site is part of the company’s effort to establish chip production in the United States. The site’s first plant, Taylor 1, is expected to become operational by the end of this year, the report says.
