Intel tested early Nova Lake processor samples using its 18A-P process before moving the 8+16 compute tiles to TSMC’s N2P, according to information attributed to Jaykihn by Wccftech.
The report says Intel had ES1 samples of the Nova Lake 8+16 compute tile ready on 18A-P before shifting the tiles to N2P. It describes the earlier samples as part of Intel’s evaluation and says they were passed to partners.
Wccftech also says Intel had highlighted its use of 18A-P for its own Nova Lake chips. The article summary says those chips are expected to launch early next year, but does not provide a specific date.
The report concerns an earlier stage of testing and a subsequent process change for the compute tiles. It does not give further details about the samples or explain why Intel moved them to TSMC’s N2P.
