Smart HDR Manager is a free, open-source utility for Windows that automatically switches High Dynamic Range (HDR) on and off for games, YouTube videos and other content, according to Wccftech.
The tool is intended to address the inconvenience of managing HDR on Windows. HDR can improve the visual experience in supported games and videos, but leaving it enabled for standard dynamic range (SDR) content may not be ideal. Users can toggle HDR manually in Windows Settings or with the Win + Alt + B shortcut, but doing so each time they launch a game can become tedious.
Wccftech reports that a developer using the name VantaCode420 created Smart HDR Manager to enable HDR automatically when compatible content is detected. The source does not provide further details about how the utility detects content or which games and videos it supports.
