A user of an ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 gaming laptop says thermal putty resolved weeks of USB connection problems and audio crackling.
According to Wccftech, the owner reported that USB peripherals kept disconnecting and the audio crackled for weeks. The source says the user spent months diagnosing the laptop before identifying an overheating PCH as the cause of the USB crashes.
The PCH reportedly reached 107–108°C. After applying thermal putty, temperatures fell by at least 22°C, the report says. The user said this addressed the problem. The source does not provide independent testing or further details about the fix.
