Blueprints AI says its software can produce code-compliant, permit-ready architectural blueprints in minutes from a project description, 2D sketch, or PDF. The Santa Monica startup was founded by Al Drams and Coco Cao, who officially incorporated it in 2025.
Drams, an architect, said he first explored the idea nearly two decades ago, but the technology was not available then. After ChatGPT arrived in November 2022, he launched the concept within six months. The company was selected for the 2026 Startup Battlefield 200 and is due to exhibit at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco from October 13 to 15.
The company says its models were trained on eight years of approved drawing sets from Drams’ architecture and construction firm. Its first-generation software costs $3,200 to $8,500 per month, depending on the plan.
The second-generation software, which the company says will become publicly available this week, lets users create plans for a building’s architecture, structure, mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, and interior design. A change to one part updates the project and is checked against local building codes. Drams said architects spend about 80% of their time drafting and 20% designing, and he wants to reverse that balance.
The founders say the software does not replace licensed architects: professionals still review the documents and seal them before permit submission. The company is also developing a third version with structural analysis and electrical panel design.
