Ugreen DXP8800 Plus costs $410 less than Ultra

Ugreen’s NASync DXP8800 Plus and DXP8800 Ultra are eight-bay, diskless network-attached storage devices aimed at small businesses, studios and creative teams. Both support up to 272TB of storage, dual 10GbE networking, two Thunderbolt 4 connections and two M.2 slots.

The Plus has an Intel Core i5-1235U processor and supports up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM. Ugreen has reduced its price from $1,509.99 to $1,369.99, a saving of $140, or about 9%. The Ultra uses an Intel Core 7 150U processor and supports up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM. It costs $1,779.99, making it $410 more expensive than the Plus.

TechRadar’s Wayne Williams reports that the newer processor and higher memory ceiling give the Ultra an advantage for demanding workloads, multitasking, virtualization and AI hosting. In a 4-star review of the Ultra, Mark said the extra cost may not be worthwhile for users focused on file serving. He noted that both models can handle backups, media streaming and several containers.

Mark gave the Plus 4.5 stars in a hands-on review, describing its capacity and bandwidth as suitable for a small business. Both models are sold without drives, so HDDs or SSDs are purchased separately.
