Citroën has unveiled a retro-inspired electric 2 CV concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. CEO Xavier Chardon said the company hopes to sell a production version for around $15,000 when it reaches dealers in 2028. The article also gives a price of about €15,000, or £13,500, and says that could make it one of the cheapest electric vehicles in the UK and Europe.
Citroën is developing a new electric-car platform for several small models, with the aim of lowering production costs. The company has not said what will power the 2 CV. Chardon said engineers are trying to reduce the weight of its electric cars, with a goal of keeping the 2 CV below one tonne. The concept is 3.76 metres long, shorter than its predecessor.
Inside, the concept has bench-style front and rear seats, a removable wicker storage basket and an 8-inch square touchscreen. A detachable radio in front of the passenger can also work as a Bluetooth speaker. Other details include egg-shaped door storage, a fabric sunroof and solid metal bumpers. Citroën says the design is close to production and is considering a small commercial-vehicle version, shown alongside the concept as the 2 CV Fourgonnette. No production date beyond the planned 2028 dealer arrival was given.
