Amazon to Stop Using NDAs in Local Data Center Deals

Amazon says it will stop using nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) when negotiating data center deals with local governments. The move follows a similar step by Microsoft earlier this year.

Secrecy around data center projects has fueled community backlash against AI infrastructure. Opposition has led to hundreds of proposed and enacted moratoriums, from New York to San Francisco.

Whether dropping NDAs will change how data center deals are negotiated remains an open question. The issue was discussed on TechCrunch’s Equity podcast by Anthony Ha, Sean O’Kane, and Rebecca Bellan.

The episode also examined trust as a potential selling point for personal AI startups. Those companies are betting that consumers will give AI agents access to inboxes, files, and credit cards, provided the agents can access websites.
