Google has released Google AI Edge Foresight, an experimental note-taking app for macOS that transcribes meetings and audio files entirely offline. The app is free to use and runs on Google’s on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model.
Foresight summarizes meetings and provides a space for users to take their own notes. Google says users can write shorthand bullet points during a meeting, which the app then turns into “polished notes” based on the transcript.
The app also includes an assistant for asking questions about recorded conversations. Users can connect local files for the assistant to reference in its answers. Google says files, meeting audio and notes “never leave your computer.”
Google AI Edge Foresight is currently optimized only for Macs with Apple Silicon. The Verge reports that the app stands out among a growing number of AI note-taking apps because it operates on-device. The Verge also notes that TechCrunch reported on the app earlier.
