Samsung joins $1 billion Helix data-center investment

Samsung and five affiliated businesses are committing $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, according to TechRadar. Samsung Electronics will provide $500 million, with the other affiliates supplying the remainder through the venture.

KKR established Helix in June 2026 to develop data centers and secure electricity and network connections. Its founding investors also include Nvidia, the Kuwait Investment Authority and US electricity company Vistra.

The commitment brings together capabilities from across Samsung’s businesses. Samsung Electronics contributes memory technology, while its FläktGroup subsidiary supplies data-center cooling systems. Samsung C&T can take on engineering and construction projects; Samsung SDS develops data centers and offers rented GPU computing capacity. Samsung SDI supplies batteries for uninterrupted power systems.

TechRadar reports that the arrangement could let Samsung participate more directly in building AI infrastructure, alongside its existing hardware businesses. Helix also plans to obtain power capacity. The article describes Samsung’s combination of capital, components, construction, cooling, computing and batteries as unusually broad, and compares its reach with companies including Huawei and SoftBank. Those comparisons are the publication’s assessment.
