Google is rolling out a fix for an Android Auto bug that made some users’ cellular signal icons disappear from their car displays. The issue was intermittent for some people and did not affect every Android Auto user.
TechRadar reports that Google acknowledged the problem and said it was rolling out a fix. According to the report, users say Android Auto 17.8 addresses the bug, and the stable version is now rolling out. Google’s statement did not specify a version number.
To check for the update, search for Android Auto in the Google Play Store on your phone and install an update if one is available. You can check the installed version under Settings > Apps > Android Auto, or at the bottom of the Android Auto app’s settings screen. The report says version 17.8 should fix the issue.
If the icon still disappears after updating, the report suggests clearing Android Auto’s cache through Settings > Apps > Android Auto > Storage > Clear cache. If version 17.8 is not available yet, users can wait for the rollout or sideload the app from a site such as APKMirror. TechRadar says it generally recommends waiting for the update through official channels.
