Hearing technology startup Legato says its flagship AI hearing glasses, Legato Frames, are now available. The frames start at $999 and are designed for adults with up to moderate hearing loss.
The glasses integrate Legato’s patented hearing assistance technology into the arms of the frames. The company says its AI system distinguishes voices from background noise, amplifies voices and reduces unwanted sounds. The open-ear design directs sound toward the wearer without broadcasting it to people nearby. Legato says the dual-speaker system reduces sound escaping the frames by 99% a few inches from the ear.
Legato says processing takes place on the glasses, with no cameras or recording. The frames weigh 34 grams with lenses and offer 10–12 hours of battery life. They come in three styles and support prescription lenses and Bluetooth streaming for music and calls.
The launch follows Legato’s emergence from stealth a few weeks ago with $12 million in funding from Neotribe Ventures, Listen and Village Global. Founded in 2024 by Mehul Trivedi and Steve Romine, Legato draws on the founders’ experience at Bose. Trivedi led the creation of Bose Frames, while Romine ran the hearing aids division. Trivedi later led smart eyewear efforts at EssilorLuxottica and worked on Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses; Romine later served as COO of Audicus.
Legato Frames are available through the company’s website and select eye care providers in the U.S. The company says they are eligible for vision insurance coverage.
