Tesla has postponed the reveal of its second-generation Roadster from October 1 to October 15 because of a forecast of severe weather. The event was planned for Waco, Texas.
In a post on X, Tesla said it had been tracking the weather with local meteorologists. The company said it rescheduled because severe conditions were predicted and the event could only be held outdoors.
The reveal is expected to showcase the redesigned electric car, which Tesla has been working to integrate with cold gas thrusters from SpaceX. The source says the thrusters are intended to make the Roadster fly in some form; Tesla has not detailed how that would work.
Tesla first showed a concept for the second-generation Roadster in 2017, alongside the Semi. The company once said the car was only a few years away and collected $50,000 deposits. Its estimated base price was around $200,000, while some customers paid $250,000 to reserve one of 1,000 Founders Series cars.
The project has faced repeated delays. Elon Musk said the vehicle could take a year or more to enter production after its reveal. Tesla has not announced a production date.
