TechRadar’s Graham Barlow tested Apple’s Siri AI beta on an iPhone after upgrading to iOS 27 and joining the beta waitlist through Settings. Apple’s upgraded assistant was then installed on his device.
Barlow gave Siri AI five tasks he normally uses ChatGPT Voice for. Siri AI provided accurate information about AI voice-cloning scams, but its answer was lengthy and its voice sounded stiff. ChatGPT Voice was more conversational and concise.
Siri AI performed better when searching for concert tickets in a Gmail account accessed through Apple Mail. It initially failed to find tickets for Hubris in October, then located them after Barlow added that the event was at the Griffin. ChatGPT Voice could not search the Gmail account, although it found the concert date through a web search.
Siri AI also identified relevant details from documents, emails, graphs, photos and webpages displayed on screen. While Barlow viewed Crunchyroll, it explained the anime shown, including Black Torch. It correctly identified that an Amazon item was out of stock and recognized an invoice amount and payment deadline. Barlow concluded that Siri AI is useful, but its conversational quality and voice still need improvement.
