Proton VPN has released a native app for Amazon Fire TV Sticks running Vega OS, according to TechRadar. The launch follows Amazon’s move from its Android-based Fire OS to the new Linux-based platform, which means older Android apps may no longer work on the latest streaming devices.
The dedicated app is designed to let users secure their internet connection, hide their IP address, and access geo-restricted streaming libraries directly from a television. Proton VPN is based in Switzerland and operates servers in 145 countries. Its free plan has limitations, while a premium subscription costs the equivalent of $2.99 per month, according to the report.
Proton VPN joins other providers that have released or are developing Vega OS support. NordVPN was among the first with a Linux-based VPN app for the platform, followed by IPVanish, Surfshark, and ExpressVPN. The expanding selection gives owners of newer Amazon Fire TV Sticks more VPN apps built specifically for Vega OS.
Vega OS users can find download instructions on Proton’s support page. TechRadar identified Rene Millman as the article’s author.
