Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro reach end of support on October 13

Microsoft said Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach the end of updates on October 13, 2026.

After that date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security or non-security preview updates, including protections against the latest security threats. The same end-of-updates date applies to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016.

Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise and Education editions will remain under mainstream support until October 2027 under Microsoft's lifecycle policy.

Microsoft is directing eligible customers toward Windows 11 25H2, also known as the Windows 11 2025 Update. The company said Windows 11 25H2 became generally available in September 2024 as a minor update delivered through an enablement package.

Systems running Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro that are not managed by IT departments will automatically upgrade to Windows 11 25H2, Microsoft said. Users can still choose when to restart or postpone the update.

Microsoft said eligible Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices can check for the update through Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Further servicing information is available through Microsoft's Windows Lifecycle FAQ and Lifecycle Policy search tool.
