Surfshark adds Windows allow list to its web content blocker

Surfshark has added an allowed websites list to its web content blocker on Windows, letting users keep an entire category of sites blocked while allowing selected pages to remain accessible.

The feature is currently limited to Windows. Users on Android, iOS, or Mac will have to wait for a wider rollout. Surfshark’s web content blocker first launched on Android and iOS in October 2025 before expanding to desktop.

Previously, blocking a category was an all-or-nothing setting. If a legitimate website was caught by a broad filter, users had to disable the entire category. With the new list, an approved site remains reachable while the rest of its category stays filtered, and users can switch the blocker on or off.

The blocker is available to subscribers on Surfshark One and One+ plans and can work without the VPN being enabled. It filters seven content categories, including pornography, gambling, weapons, drugs, and malware.

Surfshark says the tool is designed to protect family members without monitoring browsing activity. Senior Product Manager Justas Pukys has said it helps protect users from malicious content without tracking the sites they visit. The company also says the feature has no screen-time limits, app blocking, or activity logs.
