Dimensity 9600 Pro narrowly beats A20 Pro, while Dimensity 9500 scores fall 8.5%

MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, which it describes as its fastest chipset to date. The company also presents it as the first 2nm silicon expected to power a wave of Android flagship smartphones.

Performance slides accompanying the announcement compare the Dimensity 9600 Pro with Apple’s A20 Pro in single-core and multi-core tests. According to the figures reported by Wccftech, the Dimensity 9600 Pro narrowly beats the A20 Pro in multi-core performance, while the comparison does not establish an overall lead in every area.

Wccftech also reports that the Dimensity 9500 scores shown in the presentation were lowered by 8.5%. The report says this change makes the Dimensity 9600 Pro’s results appear more favorable. The figures therefore remain presentation claims rather than independent test results.

The announcement places the Dimensity 9600 Pro at the center of MediaTek’s next flagship push, while its expected use in Android phones remains forward-looking.
