Valerion VisionMaster Max delivers deep blacks, but its $4,999 price faces strong competition

The Valerion VisionMaster Max is a high-end 4K projector with an RGB laser light source, flexible optics, and a compact design. Its strongest feature is contrast: the projector produces bright, colorful images while maintaining unusually deep black levels. The review says it came closer than any other compact projector tested to the black levels of the Sony Bravia Projector 7.

The projector includes Google TV, a 24W stereo sound system, Wi-Fi 6E, and automatic adjustments for zoom, keystone, focus, and screen fit. Its connections include 2x USB-A, 1x 3.5mm audio out, 1x S/PDIF, 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x HDMI 2.0 with eARC, and 1x Gigabit Ethernet. The listed dimensions are 7.3 x 10.2 x 9.2 inches / 185.4 x 259.1 x 233.9mm.

Motorized zoom supports a 0.9:1 to 1.5:1 throw ratio, while vertical lens shift reaches +/- 105%. An optional external lens can extend the throw ratio to 2.0:1. The projector also supports ceiling or tripod mounting.

The VisionMaster Max costs $4,999 / £4,349 / AU$5,999. The review identifies the Hisense C2 Ultra and Xgimi Horizon 20 Max as rivals that cost thousands less. Valerion has also offered accessories including screens, a Thunderbeat 4.1.2 wireless sound system, and an external lens. The projector was teased before IFA 2024 and arrived after a crowdfunding campaign.
