Philips Smart Lighting’s Screen Sync with Lightstrip starts at £79.99

Philips Smart Lighting has introduced Screen Sync with Lightstrip, a cheaper alternative to the Philips Hue Screen Sync. It runs on the WiZ platform and app over Wi-Fi, and includes the light strip in the package.

The system comes in two sizes. The smaller model costs £79.99 (about $110 / AU$150), supports 40- to 50-inch TVs, and is cheaper than Hue’s option, which requires a separate light strip. The larger model costs £99.99 (about $140 / AU$190) and is designed for 55- to 65-inch TVs.

As with Philips Hue Screen Sync, a camera captures the entire TV image through a fisheye lens. After calibration in the app, the system matches the screen’s colors on its four-sided RBGIC strip mounted behind the TV. A built-in microphone can also synchronize the lights with music.

The setup works with any content displayed on the screen, including native streaming apps, a PS5, or an Apple TV 4K, without requiring an HDMI source. It is not intended for people expanding an existing Hue setup, but it offers a simpler and less expensive Philips-branded alternative with the light strip included.
