iRobot’s Roomba Duo is a two-in-one robot vacuum designed to combine powerful cleaning with access to tight spaces. In its full form, the machine has a large base with room for more water and stronger vacuuming.
The base is intended for heavy-duty cleaning in open, high-traffic areas. It also deploys a smaller companion robot, similar to the Roomba Plus 575, for detail work under furniture, around chair legs, in corners and other spaces the larger machine cannot reach.
At IFA 2026, the dock lifted from the top of the base and lowered to the floor. The smaller robot then completed a tight obstacle course before returning to its housing and being lifted back to the charging position on the base.
iRobot Chief Engineer and Vice President of Product Planning and Development Adam Pope said the two robots have separate jobs and work together. He described the Roomba Duo as an innovation concept being shown at IFA to measure market interest.
The iRobot Duo is not yet on sale. Pope said the design is also intended to offer something different in a robot-vacuum market focused heavily on specifications while still handling the cleaning tasks customers need.
