Lenovo’s $800+ Laptop Repair Was Fixed With Copper Wire

Lenovo quoted more than $800 for a repair after the display on a Yoga Slim 7 Pro X stopped working. The premium notebook features an AMD Ryzen CPU and an NVIDIA RTX GPU.

The quoted $800+ (£600) repair bill included replacing the entire motherboard. A repair expert later found that the problem could be fixed with a small piece of copper wire.

The repair was successfully completed with the wire instead of the motherboard replacement. The case shows that the quoted service involved replacing a major component, while the eventual fix used a much smaller part.
