JBL Live Buds 4 wireless earbuds stand out with a smart charging case that has a responsive touchscreen. It lets users adjust sound settings, change ANC modes, and access tools such as a flashlight and timer without downloading a companion app.
After three weeks of testing, the earbuds delivered strong sound with impactful bass, clear mids, expressive highs, and good detail. LDAC revealed additional mid-range detail, while the EQ settings on the case or JBL Headphones app made customization simple.
The case also includes a smart-talk option, customizable touch controls, and voice settings for calls. JBL includes 6 mics and Perfect Calls 2.0, which uses AI to help keep voices clear in noisy environments. Call quality was relatively clear, but recordings showed some sibilance and background noise.
ANC is decent and improved over the previous generation, but it does not match earbuds from Apple and Bose. Spatial audio also lacked the clarity and openness of the standard tuning.
The compact, stem-free earbuds were comfortable and secure for several hours. They have an IP55 rating, while the textured case is available with the model in a wide range of colors.
