Lenovo has announced the ThinkCentre X Ultra, a 1.6-liter desktop built around AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495. The system offers up to 128GB of unified memory, starts at $3,699, and is scheduled to ship in November 2026.
Lenovo says the desktop can be configured in clusters of up to four systems, potentially creating a 512GB memory pool while combining processing power. The company positions the system as a desktop for agentic AI, with local execution of large AI models, longer context windows, and multi-agent workflows without relying on cloud-hosted alternatives.
The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 has 16 Zen 5 cores, a 40-compute-unit Radeon 8065S integrated GPU, and an NPU rated at roughly 55 TOPS. Its CPU and GPU share the same LPDDR5X memory pool, allowing it to hold and run models that a discrete consumer-grade GPU with 24GB or 32GB of VRAM cannot, according to the source.
The ThinkCentre X Ultra includes ThinkShield security, AMD's PRO technologies, DASH out-of-band manageability, a self-healing BIOS, and the AMD Ryzen AI Developer Center for Windows and Linux. Lenovo has not disclosed how four-system connectivity would work, the available bandwidth, or the performance impact. Listed specifications include dual Thunderbolt 4 ports rated at 40Gb/s each.
