Lexar unveils 22-in-1 Thunderbolt 5 dock with NVMe slot

Lexar has introduced the PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock, a docking station for Mac and Windows computers built around Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. It combines 22 ports with a 5-inch touchscreen and a rotating metal dial for controlling connected displays and viewing system information.

The Thunderbolt 5 connection supports up to 80 Gbps by default, or 120 Gbps in one direction with boost mode. According to Lexar, the dock can handle two 8K displays at 60Hz or three 4K displays at 144Hz, depending on the host hardware. Video output is available through Thunderbolt, DisplayPort 2.1, and HDMI 2.1, with the latter two sharing the same video path.

The dock includes Type B CFexpress, SD 4.0, and microSD 4.0 card readers. Its internal M.2 slot supports PCIe Gen 4 x2 and advertised transfer rates of up to 3,600 MB/s with suitable hardware. The compatible SSD is not included. Network transfers can use 10GbE, while USB ports connect accessories and storage devices.

The dock provides up to 140W power delivery for a connected laptop. Its display can show power use, temperatures, transfer rates, and other operating details, although full dashboard functions require Lexar's desktop application. Lexar is preparing the product for Kickstarter, with an advertised early price of $479 against a regular $649 MSRP.
