NVIDIA Introduces PAIR for Distributed Home AI Inference

NVIDIA has introduced PAIR, a system designed to combine and distribute AI inference across devices in the home without requiring hardware installation.

The idea behind NVIDIA PAIR is based on unused computing capacity across household devices. NVIDIA states that most homes in the US have multiple PCs, while those PCs are used for about 17 percent of the day on average. That equals a little over four hours of use.

PAIR is intended to bring that available capacity together so home devices can contribute to local AI inference. The system distributes inference workloads across the devices rather than relying on one machine alone.

The report presents PAIR as a way to use existing home hardware for AI workloads. It does not describe a need to install additional hardware, making the approach dependent on the computing devices already available in a household.
