Nintendo has finally delivered docked VRR support for Switch 2, 16 months after confirming that the feature had been dropped for launch.
Before Switch 2 was released, Nintendo had indicated that the hybrid console would support VRR, or variable refresh rate, in both handheld and docked TV modes. The company then removed official information about the feature and confirmed that VRR would initially be available only in handheld mode.
Independent tests later found that adding docked VRR support could be feasible. That result kept hopes alive among Nintendo fans, but months passed without further information from the company.
A job listing in July provided another sign that Nintendo might still be working on the feature. Nintendo has now delivered the support, completing the docked VRR capability that had been absent at launch.
